Bow & Arrow Herbicide - Broadleaf Weed Control for Australian Lawns
Bow & Arrow Herbicide is one of Australia’s most trusted selective broadleaf weed killers for home lawns. It targets stubborn weeds like clover, bindii, oxalis, dandelions and capeweed while remaining safe on buffalo, couch, kikuyu and zoysia.
If you want a clean, healthy lawn without damaging your turf, Bow & Arrow is the residential and commercial industry standard.
Why Bow & Arrow Works So Well
Bow & Arrow uses a unique three‑active formulation (MCPA, clopyralid and diflufenican) that attacks broadleaf weeds via leaf uptake. This dual action ensures more comprehensive, longer‑lasting control compared to older herbicides.
- MCPA – fast knockdown
- Clopyralid – deep systemic control
- Diflufenican – residual action to prevent regrowth
Active Ingredients:
- 20 g/L CLOPYRALID present as the potassium salt
- 15 g/L DIFLUFENICAN
- 300 g/L MCPA present as the potassium salt
This combination makes Bow & Arrow one of the most effective broadleaf herbicides available for Aussie lawns.

- Plantain (Plantago lanceolata),
- Capeweed (Arctotheca calendula),
- Cat’s ear (Hypochoeris radicata),
- Bindii (Jo-Jo, Onehunga) (Soliva sessilis),
- Cudweed (Gnaphalium spp.),
- Creeping oxalis (Oxalis corniculata),
How does Bow and Arrow Herbicide work?

Can Bow and Arrow Herbicide be used on lawns?
Yes, Bow and Arrow Herbicide is suitable for use on many established lawns and turf areas. It helps restore lawn quality by removing unsightly broadleaf weeds and improving overall turf appearance.
What are the benefits of using Bow and Arrow Herbicide?
Bow and Arrow Herbicide provides effective broadleaf weed control, improves lawn appearance, and reduces weed competition for nutrients and water. It helps maintain cleaner, healthier, and more attractive turf areas.
How long does it take for Bow and Arrow to work?
This is largely dependent on the type of weed and rate of growth at the time of application but typically you will see signs of treatment within 2 weeks and it can take up to 6 weeks for the weed to be completely killed.
Is Bow and Arrow safe to use on buffalo?
Yes, Bow and Arrow is safe to use on buffalo, stick to the application rate of 50ml per 100sqm using a pressure sprayer.
When should I use Bow and Arrow herbicide?
Bow & Arrow herbicide is ideally applied to actively growing weeds. It can be used as required to treat weeds which have appeared in the lawn. Combining it with a wetter such as Wetter 600 can enhance the effectiveness of the herbicide. Make sure to apply it when the lawn is dry and don't water it in.
What is the mixing ratio of Bow and Arrow herbicide?
Bow & Arrow should be mixed at a rate of 50ml in 5L of water per 100sqm of lawn.
Can you apply Bow and Arrow after mowing?
As Bow & Arrow is absorbed through the leaf of the weed you should avoid mowing for at least 4 days before and after application.
Can you spray Bow and Arrow on wet grass?
Bow & Arrow needs to be sprayed on a dry lawn and allowed to dry, do not water the product in. Do not spray if there is rain forecast within 4 hours of application.
What is an alternative to Bow and Arrow herbicide?
An alternative to Bow and Arrow is Dicamba M herbicide, also a selective broadleaf herbicide, though it shouldn't be used on Buffalo lawn varieties. Bow and Arrow's three-way active ingredient mix (MCPA, clopyralid, diflufenican) is also comparable to other turf herbicides on the market like Estate, Stadium and Spearhead, which use similar broadleaf-targeting actives.
When is the best time to apply herbicide?
Herbicides such as Bow and Arrow are ideally applied shortly after the weed appears when it is actively growing.
How long before rain can you apply Bow and Arrow herbicide?
Apply Bow & Arrow at least 4 hours before rain, this will give the product time to absorb into the plant through the leaf before the rain washes it away.
Should I buy the 250mL or 500mL Bow and Arrow?
It comes down to lawn size and value. The 250mL pack costs $7.00 per 100sqm application, while the 500mL pack works out to $5.50 per 100sqm — so if you're treating a larger lawn or expect to need more than one application, the 500mL size is the better value option.
Fantastic product, exceeded all my expectations. It took a few days and a 2nd spaying but it certainly killed all the weeds I was trying to get rid of , AND THE GRASS WAS NOT HARMED AT ALL !
Firstly I hate reviewing retail provisions because I pay for a product then that very retailer wants something back for FREE.
